HERITAGE AND LANGUAGE WORKSHOP
Learning objectives:
1. To increase knowledge of basic Filipino traditions,
folklore, history and language
2. To increase ability to read, write and speak
the Filipino Language
3. To increase appreciation and knowledge of Philippine
literature
This will be a 3 day workshop which will provide a general overview
of the Filipino Heritage. Basic information regarding Philippine
history, its government, folklore, and traditions will be presented
and discussed. It will also include an introductory session on the
Filipino Language. Noted Philippine authors will be discussed and
their major works presented. At the culmination of the workshop
each participant will be asked to read from Francisco Balagtas'
literary masterpiece, "Florante at Laura" after discussing
the chapter assigned to them.
VISUAL ARTS AND THEATRE WORKSHOPS
Learning Objectives:
1. To increase knowledge of basic drama skills involving
concentration, character analysis, internalization, projection,
blocking and dialogue.
2. To increase knowledge of stage fundamentals involving
stage structure, lights and sounds, props, costumes and make-up.

This workshop will be centered on laying a basic
foundation of knowledge and understanding of acting on stage, the
technical aspects that accompany a stage production and how each
entity are inherently connected to each other. Each participant
will be given a chance to portray certain characters as well as
handle certain technical components of a production. Facilitators,
who specialize in certain areas, will conduct the workshop for three
8-hour days. The workshop will culminate with the participant being
divided into groups and will be assigned a one act play. They will
be asked to adapt and present the play utilizing the principles
they learned. They will be judged by the facilitators and guest
professionals. The winning group will get to present their work
in conjunction with a major Kultura event.
